NWF State College Students Named to All-Florida Academic Team

NICEVILLE, FL– Each year, students recognized for their academic achievement are nominated by NWF State College to the All-Florida Academic Team sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. This year’s team consists of 132 students, seven of which are students at NWF and Collegiate High School.

Led by Donna Pierson, Faculty Advisor to the Sigma Mu chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, members of the All-Florida Academic Team include Faouzia Burgett, Julia Kammer, Tori Manning, Maria McLain, Annibell Ochs, Jasmine Richardson, and Jennifer Smalley.

“It’s an honor to have the Florida College System recognize seven of our students for their commitment to excellence,” says Dr. Devin Stephenson, President.  “This distinction shows that not only are these students succeeding in the classroom, but they are also making an impact on our campus and within the greater Northwest Florida community.”

Nominations are based on participation and membership in honors programs, awards received for leadership and academic enrichment. The NWF students’ hard work and dedication have earned them recognition from the Florida College System.

For the first time, Workforce Pathway students were eligible for the All-Florida Academic team nominations.  Criminal Justice student Faouzia Burgett is NWF State’s first Workforce Pathway student to receive this honor.

“The selection of these students by the Florida College System for the All-Florida Academic Team recognizes them as some of the best and brightest among Florida’s students! We’re proud to say they come from right here at NWF State College,” says Pierson.

Students selected for this year’s team will be honored on Friday, April 6 during a ceremony in Tampa.
