NWF State College Board of Trustees Waives All Fees for Active Duty Military using Tuition Assistance

NICEVILLE, FL– During their meeting on April 17, the Northwest Florida State College Board of Trustees voted unanimously to waive all college fees for active duty military students using tuition assistance beginning fall semester 2018. The vote comes just weeks after the signing of House Bill 75/Military Assistance Bill by Governor Rick Scott on April 6th.

“We are proud of the stand that our Trustees are taking to make college more affordable for our military students,” said Dr. Devin Stephenson. “Our military citizens are the lifeblood of Northwest Florida, and it is imperative that we take a stand to help them reach their educational and career goals. We believe that the passing of the Military Tuition Assistance legislation and the significant action of our Trustees has further removed any barriers that these students may have had to help them improve their lives.”

On March 13, NWF State College celebrated along with other members of the Florida College System (FCS), the unanimous passing of House Bill 75/Military Assistance Bill through the Florida House and Senate. This bill authorizes institutions to waive state fees for active duty service members using Military Tuition Assistance (MTA) at Florida College System (FCS) institutions such as NWF State.

At NWF State College, active duty military personnel receive:

  • NO state fees and NO college or course fees
  • Priority registration and financial aid assistance
  • Free tutoring
  • Flexible classes offered online, hybrid (online and traditional) and traditional classes at one of our six campus locations.
