Northwest Florida State College Selects Conductor for the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra

NICEVILLE, FL- Northwest Florida State College selected Devin Hughes as the Mattie Kelly Distinguished Chair in Music and Conductor for the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra.
“Devin’s musical talent, extensive experience and energetic personality are sure to be an authentic fit for the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, Northwest Florida State College and our entire community,” says Dr. Devin Stephenson, President. “I’m certain the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra and our community initiatives will thrive under Devin’s leadership.”
As Conductor, Hughes plans the orchestra season and conducts all rehearsals and concerts; works with the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra Guild; develops and directs the Northwest Florida Youth Symphony Orchestra; supervises education and outreach initiatives, and fosters community support.
Hughes has served as Music Director and Conductor of the Boulder Symphony, Arapahoe Philharmonic and Civic Youth Orchestra of Denver. He has also held positions with the Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association, Denver Young Artists Orchestra, Denver Philharmonic Orchestra and Denver Contemporary Chamber Players.
Devin’s education includes studies at Ithaca College, University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music, Grinnell College, Vienna Conservatory of Music and Ball State University.
