NWF State College Students Excel at SkillsUSA Regional Competition

NICEVILLE, FL – NWF State College students brought home 10 accolades, eight of which were in first place, from the SkillsUSA Regional Conference held in Pensacola on February 20, 2019. All of these students will go on to compete at the state competition in Pensacola April 7-10, 2019.

SkillsUSA is an educational partnership that provides students, teachers and other professionals with the tools needed to excel in the workforce. Each year, SkillsUSA puts on several competitions at the local, regional, state and national levels to test the skillset of students who are preparing to begin their careers.

“Congratulations to our students for making an outstanding impact at the SkillsUSA Regional Conference,” said Dr. Devin Stephenson, President. “I am also extremely proud of the faculty who support these students and move them toward becoming their best.”

  • 1st Place—Kalyn Kissam (Niceville)

Advertising Design

  • 1st Place—Brian Turney (Niceville)

Audio/Radio Production

  • 1st Place Team—Samuel McClead (Fort Walton Beach) and Rachel Williams (Crestview)

Career Pathways

  • 1st Place Team—Donna Michelle Long (Fort Walton Beach), Amber Mihacsi (Shalimar), Jami Schultz (Niceville)


Computer Programming

  • 1st Place—Gabrielle Jackson (Crestview)

Early Childhood Education

  • 1st Place—Lena Webb (Niceville)

Medical Math

  • 1st Place—Ariel Sprague (Niceville)
  • 2nd Place—Suzette “Michelle” Brazill (DeFuniak Springs)
  • 4th Place—Candice Jackson-Montague (Niceville)

Medical Terminology

  • 1st Place—Jacqueline Figueroa (Pensacola)
