Northwest Florida State College Students Join the Ranks of International Honors Society Phi Theta Kappa

NICEVILLE, FL – Thirty-four students of Northwest Florida State College were recognized for their leadership and academic achievements Tuesday, September 3, when they were inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. Phi Theta Kappa is an international honors society that promotes leadership, fellowship, service and scholarship. Eligibility for membership requires students to have completed at least 12 hours of associate degree course work and keep a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above.

Phi Theta Kappa members participate in several service projects throughout the school year that benefit both NWFSC and the surrounding community. This year, among other projects, members plan to help Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance bring their Grasses in Classes curriculum to Silver Sands students in Okaloosa County.

During the 2019-2020 induction ceremony, Phi Theta Kappa inductees were charged by Dr. Devin Stephenson, president of NWFSC, to never give up on the dreams that inspire them.

“This induction is a marker that you are distinctive, you are a dreamer,” he said. “Dive into your purpose with a motivation and discover just how big your dreams can be. My challenge to you is to have a dream and make it a reality.”
