Jackson family establishes scholarship endowment

Niceville native Scott Jackson and his wife Wanda, have established a scholarship endowment to honor their family with a $20,000 bequest to Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC).

Jackson is a Niceville High School graduate and alumnus of NWFSC, having earned both an Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees from then Okaloosa-Walton Junior College. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from the University of West Florida before returning to the area to work in the energy industry; spending most of his career with Gulf Power Company.

In 2011, Jackson returned to NWFSC as a member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. During his tenure he served as Treasurer, Vice Chair and Chair, leaving a legacy of thoughtful leadership. His involvement with the College is just one of his many community service roles, which also include serving with the Niceville-Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce, the Niceville Library Foundation, the Northwest Florida Heritage Museum and numerous other organizations.

Combining his philosophy of helping others with his belief that the College is one of Northwest Florida’s greatest resources, Jackson has chosen to support future NWFSC students with this bequest. The Scott Jackson Family Scholarship Endowment will provide scholarship support for students enrolled at Northwest Florida State College.

“Scott and Wanda’s generous gift is one of the many ways the Jackson family has demonstrated their appreciation for the College and our students,” said NWFSC President Dr. Devin Stephenson. “This endowment will both honor the Jackson family and provide support to Northwest Florida State College students for years to come.”
