NWFSC Hosts Wall-Breaking Ceremony for Health Sciences and Nursing Program Building Renovation 

Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC) hosted a Wall-Breaking Ceremony for Building 420 on the Niceville Campus on Thursday, October 26, 2023. The College’s Building 420 will serve as the dedicated space for Health Sciences and the Nursing Program.   

This ceremony marked the initial phase of the NWFSC Nursing Program Expansion project. Future phases include integration of instructional enhancements through virtual technology, professional development for faculty, and increased accessibility of pre-nursing coursework to support a pipeline of students. Throughout this project the priority will be implementing teaching technologies and strategies that improve student success while accelerating the learning process. 

“This project reflects the College’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art facilities for students,” said NWFSC President Dr. Devin Stephenson. “We are dedicated to providing our students with the best resources, equipping them to meet the changing standards of healthcare education.”  

The generous support of over $21.8 million from Triumph Gulf Coast has made this transformative project possible. Triumph Gulf Coast is a competitive development fund in Northwest Florida that provide for industry-driven workforce and education training programs.  

The NWFSC A.S. in Nursing (ASN) program is nationally accredited through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and boasts NCLEX pass rates that have exceeded state averages by double digits for the past 14 years. The job placement rate for NWFSC nursing graduates remains above 98%.
