Northwest Florida State College Awarded Prestigious Nursing Accreditation
NICEVILLE, Fla. – This month, Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC) was notified that its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program achieved accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). This fully online nursing program is designed for licensed registered nurses to attain their bachelor’s degree, preparing them for eligibility for graduate programs, leadership roles, or the military nurse corps. The NWFSC Associate in Science in Nursing (RN) program is also accredited by the ACEN, streamlining the transition between the two programs, and providing a more cohesive experience for students.
“Accreditation is a mark of excellence,” said Dr. Devin Stephenson. “Our commitment to educational excellence is not just our standard, but a driving force that propels our efforts to meet the needs of the regional economy.”
According to the ACEN, accreditation of the College’s nursing programs meets rigorous, voluntary standards. It supports excellence in nursing education, nursing practice, and public health by providing specialized oversight for all levels of nursing training. The ACEN is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization recognized as an accrediting body by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
“This recognition reaffirms our commitment to the region to graduate top-tier talent to meet industry demand,” said Dr. Henry Mack, Vice President for Academic Affairs. “It is a testament to the dedication of our faculty and staff to students and to the community.”
As a leading authority in nursing education accreditation, the ACEN aims to support the College and to nearly guarantee the quality of nursing education and transition-to-practice programs. Last year, the College received a $21 million dollar grant to expand nursing education, thanks to Triumph Gulf Coast. This accreditation is a component of that effort.
