PRESS RELEASE

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC) is proud to announce a pioneering initiative in collaboration with Knack, a Florida-based peer tutoring platform. This partnership will ensure all students have access to free, on-demand tutoring starting Fall 2024.

This initiative, a collaboration between NWFSC and Knack, aims to significantly enhance student retention and success. As part of this collaboration, NWFSC peer tutors will have access to training modules that comply with the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) standards, ensuring they provide high-quality tutoring to their peers. Additionally, Knack will employ local talent as contract employees to tutor NWFSC students, delivering scalable and impactful peer tutoring programs that ensure all students have the resources they need to succeed.

“I am thrilled to provide access to this innovative and easy solution for students to improve their likelihood of success,” said Dr. Devin Stephenson, President of Northwest Florida State College. “Our commitment to student success is unwavering; this additional resource demonstrates our support for all students who attend NWFSC.”

Notably, this collaboration extends beyond academic assistance, fostering opportunities for professional growth and economic empowerment within the student community. “The idea that NWFSC is able to address its academic support needs while also creating mid-wage jobs for local talent—including our own students—is nothing short of exciting,” said Dr. Henry Mack, Vice President of Academic Affairs. “The partnership comes at the right time as the College positions itself to grow its workforce programs to meet industry demand.”
