NWF State College Welcomes Dental Assisting Instructors from United Kingdom

NICEVILLE, FL– Dental assisting instructors from Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Trust in London, England, UK, one of Britain’s leaders in privatized healthcare, will be visiting NWF State College February 26-March 1, 2018 as part of a cooperative teaching and learning experience.

“Hosting our guests from Guy’s and St. Thomas’ is a true testament to the innovative and relevant programs being offered here at NWF State College,” said Dr. Devin Stephenson, President.  “Attracting international attention such as this is a great honor for our Dental Assisting program and demonstrates how they can continue to create successful career pathways for our graduates.”

The travelling instructors are Ms. Samantha Salaver, Head of Dental Nursing, Ms. Beverley Banton, Clinical Specialist in Dental Nurse Oral Health and Ms. Helen Weston, Practice Development Nurse.  They will be observing class lectures and laboratory sessions alongside NWF State dental assisting students throughout the week in order to gain valuable experience regarding the Expanded Functions in Dental Assisting.  They then hope to further expand their own curriculum in the United Kingdom based upon the best practices provided by NWF State’s American Dental Association accredited curriculum.

“The entire NWF State College Dental Assisting program is delighted to have Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Trust dental nurse faculty visit us from the UK to provide them insight into the courses we offer here at NWF State,” said Julie Nelson, Director of Dental Assisting.  “This opportunity will not only provide our students with a global perspective, but also how our role as dental assistants is unique in the United States.”
