Governor Awards NWF State College’s Executive Officer for Government Relations and Strategy the Veterans Service Medal

NICEVILLE, FL – Florida Governor Rick Scott awarded NWF State’s Executive Officer for Government Relations and Strategy Jack Capra a Veterans Service Medal at a press conference on March 22.
The press conference was held to highlight funding for military veterans in the 2018-2019 budget year and to honor the veterans receiving Veteran Service Medals.
“We are extremely proud of Jack for this honor, and we are grateful he is part of our team at NWF State College,” says Dr. Devin Stephenson, President. “Jack’s commitment to serving veterans and their families shows through his work every day, and he is incredibly deserving of this honor.”
As Executive Officer for Government Relations and Strategy, Capra serves the college as the executive lead for local, state, and federal government affairs; legislative affairs; policy and external funding advocacy; official liaison to the military and veterans’ community; oversight and planning for all components of campus safety and security; reviewing attorney on contracts/MOU’s, and other legal subjects.
Capra was a direct appointment to the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps in September 1990 where he served until his retirement from the Navy Reserves in October 2014, with the rank of Captain (06). His military assignments included, among others, Pensacola, FL, Bahrain, Antarctica, Germany, Italy, the Horn of Africa, Iraq, and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Among other military decorations, Capra is authorized to wear: The Purple Heart, Joint Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (5); Navy Achievement Medal (3); Military Outstanding Volunteer Medal; Combat Action Ribbon; and the Antarctica Service Medal.
