NWF State College Student-Athletes Excel On and Off of the Field

NICEVILLE, FL– As the school year comes to an end, we reflect on the success of our student-athletes. This spring our student-athletes achieved:
- An average 3.13 spring GPA
- 3.06 academic year GPA
- 43 Raider athletes had an average 3.0 GPA or above
- 27 student-athletes earned their degrees and moved on to four-year colleges and universities.
The on-court success came early when Andres Feliz was named the FCSAA/NJCAA Region VIII Player of the Week for the very first week of the regular season. The men’s basketball team went on to win 25 straight games and spent eight straight weeks at the top of the national rankings. Feliz capped off his career as a Raider by also being named Panhandle Conference and FCSAA State Player of the Year. Head Coach Steve DeMeo was named Coach of the Year in the conference and Region VIII.
The Lady Raider women’s basketball team went undefeated in the non-conference portion of the season. Men’s basketball clinched the Panhandle Conference championship and went on to win the FCSAA state championship to earn an automatic bid to the national tournament. Women’s basketball earned an at-large bid to the national tournament in Lubbock, Texas. Both men’s and women’s basketball made it to the Elite 8 in their respective tournaments.
Grant Stewart (pictured above) and Christian Camacho (pictured below), of Raider Baseball, were each named Pitchers of the Week for FCSAA Region VIII. Stewart went on to be named NJCAA Pitcher of the Week after an incredibly impressive complete game shutout.
Ten Raiders from all sports were named to the First Team Panhandle All-Conference Teams. In addition to the hard work each team dedicated on the field or court and in the classroom, all four teams made time throughout the year volunteering in the community, from hosting camps with the Boys and Girls Club to Autism Surfs to helping the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance build an oyster reef.
Twenty four student-athletes recently graduated from NWF State and they are moving on to four-year schools to continue their academic and athletic careers. They have each contributed countless hours and have left their impact on the NWF Raider Athletic program.
