NICEVILLE, FL — Northwest Florida State College has taken its Police Department right into the hands of students with a new public safety app, Raider Connect. The app allows for immediate communication with NWFSC Police Officers and offers services such as a virtual walk-home, reporting crime tips and real-time campus safety updates at four NWFSC locations.
“This Raider Connect app will help us literally have eyes on every inch of our College’s campuses,” said NWFSC Police Chief Aaron Murray. “The app will increase communication between our officers and those we serve and help us render quicker response times in emergencies and other safety situations.”
The virtual walk-home feature allows campus police to monitor a users’ travel when the option is chosen. With this app, police will follow the users’ GPS location until notified that they have arrived at their destination safely. The mobile blue light feature allows users to put out an emergency signal from their location, directly to campus security, to alert a swift response. Other app features include an emergency contact list, plans for different emergency scenarios, options for reporting an incident and connections to other campus websites.
“Recently rated the safest college in Florida, this mobile app will bring even more peace of mind to our students and employees,” said Dr. Devin Stephenson, NWFSC president. “Technology like this allows our college to remain at the forefront, not just in academics, but also in prioritizing safety across our campus community.”
Northwest Florida State College’s safety app can be downloaded for free to smart phones in the Apple App Store or on Google Play by searching “Raider Connect.”
