Associate in Arts

The Associate in Arts (AA) degree is primarily intended as a transfer degree for students continuing to a 4 year bachelor’s program at a university or state college. A NWF State College Associate in Arts degree provides the course work for the first 2 years of a bachelor’s degree program which allows students to get a great education at a reasonable cost. Our students graduate with minimal or no student debt.

Associate of Arts students complete 36 credit hours in general education course work distributed across five subject area categories. The additional 24 elective credit hours needed to meet the required 60 credit hours for the degree are selected based on the student’s educational goals. Students can take courses in Arts, Humanities, Communication, and Design; Business; Education; Health Sciences; Industry/Manufacturing and Construction; Public Safety; STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math); and Social and Behavior Sciences & Human Services. Taking courses within these various degree concentrations which allow students to tailor their academic experience toward their ultimate higher-level major. (Individual course requirements at specific institutions are published in State-wide Common Course Prerequisite Manual. Northwest Florida State College recommends that students see an academic advisor and contact their transfer institution to confirm program requirements.)

Northwest Florida State College is pleased to offer many of these programs online, including prerequisite courses for most transfer majors.
