Graphics Technology & Digital Media/Multimedia Technology

Associate in Science

Northwest Florida State College offers two-year programs of study leading to Associate of Science (A.S.) degrees in either Graphics Technology or Digital Media/Multimedia Technology. Students in the Graphics Technology degree program may pursue an emphasis in Graphic Design or Visual Artist and may also complete college credit certificates in Graphic Design Production and Graphic Design Support while completing the A.S. degree requirements. Students in the Digital Media/Multimedia Technology degree program may also complete college credit certificates in Digital Media/Multimedia Authoring and Digital Media/Multimedia Presentation while completing the A.S. degree requirements. The core coursework in these programs can greatly enhance the skill set of anyone in other career fields outside of graphic design and digital media. Visual and digital communications skills are becoming central to our daily lives, and these skills will enhance almost any resume.

These degree programs provide students with the educational background necessary for entering the job market. To be successful in graphic design or digital media career fields, students must be proficient in the technical aspects of using industry standard computer software applications such as AdobeĀ Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere. Students also must develop creative and critical thinking skills. Creativity and critical thinking are the processes that enable students to not only know how to use software, but also know why digital media products are made and used, and to know what the best solutions are to visual communication challenges. Both A.S. degree programs include extensive study of photography, and in the Digital Media programs videography is a core component. Our graduates are well-rounded and multi-skilled, and therefore are capable of producing professional digital media products from initial concept to finished publications. If being creative and working in the visual communications industries building print publications such as newspapers and magazines, websites, photography, digital video, digital content, and advertising sounds exciting, NWF State College may be the best place to start your journey!
