Student Success and Team Dynamics: Building Essential Workplace Collaboration Skills Through Course Activities

A startling statistic reveals that 31% of hiring managers are resistant to hiring Gen Z candidates. Hiring managers stated six primary skill set deficiencies, four of those are perceived deficiencies in teamwork, resilience, adaptability, and lack of team collaboration and interpersonal relationship skills. How can we better prepare our students for workplace success?

This evidence-based, hands-on workshop equips faculty and course developers with practical tools to transform traditional student groups into high-performing collaborative teams. Participants will learn:

  • How to guide students from basic learning groups to cohesive, organizational teams
  • Evidence-based strategies for implementing structured team charters
  • Essential elements of successful team formation and development
  • Practical frameworks for establishing clear communication, team roles, conflict resolution, and shared goals
  • Ready-to-implement resources for creating team charter activities

Participants will leave with complete instructional materials and ready-to-use files for implementing team charter activities in their courses. This workshop is ideal for faculty and instructional designers seeking to enhance group projects and better prepare students for workplace team environments.

Through this interactive session, learn how to help your students develop the collaborative competencies employers demand, while fostering skills that will serve them throughout their careers.
